Skill is available in 5000+ ski-resorts worldwide. Our list of resorts increases constantly.
Skill works even in local resorts with 1-2 lifts and small number of slopes. You can use Resort Search to check if Skill works in the resort you need: just find your country in the list and then look for necessary resort.
If necessary resort isn't in the list, you can write us to support@skill.ski or in WhatsApp and we'll add the resort to the list.
Skill needs your location to record tracks and share your location with friends.
Using GPS and Skill in background mode can reduce battery charge of your device during the day. We are working on making Skill friendly for your battery as much as possible. And don't forget that cold weather also can be the reason of low battery charge.
Skill records your tracks locally on your device. When internet-connection is stable Skill sends it to our server where we store it. If you don't plan to use Skill soon you can delete the application from your device and download it again in AppStore or Google Play when it's needed.
Just swipe up Skill from Recent Apps list.
Skill detects when you're on the lift, skiing or taking a rest automatically. Just run the application before you start skiing.
Skill uses information about your speed and altitude difference to recognize the start of your track. You need to reach speed of up to 10 km/h and keep it for 7+ seconds continuously. If you're a beginner there's a big chance that your speed will be less than 10 km/h and track won't be recorded.
Also altitude difference should be more than 30 meters.
If your track wasn't recorded probably the reason of it is:
If you're sure the above can't be the reason that your track wasn't recorded, write us in WhatsApp or to support@skill.ski!
Skill detects when you're on the lift, skiing or taking a rest automatically. So you don't need to do anything to stop recording - Skill will do this automatically!
Skill uses GPS to record your tracks. That's why Skill records your activity even when you have poor internet-connection or don't have internet at all. Skill keeps your records locally on your device without internet. When internet-connection becomes more stable or you connect to Wi-Fi, Skill will synchronize records on your device with our server. After synchronization your records will be available to all Skill users.
It's an unexpected behavior of the application, but sometimes it can happen. If it happened to you please inform us in WhatsApp or write to support@skill.ski. Also you can delete this record on the track screen.
If you take a lift downhill Skill can detect your status as "Ride" sometimes. It happens because taking a lift downhill and skiing look very similar for Skill.
In new versions (from 3.3) we tried to teach Skill to detect lifting downhill, but Skill still can be mistaken sometimes. In some difficult situations lifting downhill can be recorded as a track. The simplest way to solve this problem is deleting this track.
Skill can record your tracks even when you ski out of slopes. But you shouldn't leave ski resort zone.
No, recording tracks is available only in ski resort zone.
Ski resort zone is an area where all functionality of Skill is available. Press resort sign with the name of the resort on the map to see blue line which limits ski resort zone.
You can record tracks and track friends ONLY in ski resort zone. Statistics and Store are available even out of ski resort zone.
GPS-coordinates with poor accuracy can negatively affect your statistics.
If you have poor GPS while recording track, its trajectory at track screen can look like connected straight lines, not like smooth one. Skill uses these straight lines to connect GPS-coordinates which we get when GPS returns to normal values (less than 30 meters).
If you're driving a car or taking a ski-bus downhill Skill can detect your current status as "Ride".
At the moment Skill can't distinguish ski tracks and car trips. So if you don't close the application after skiing, your car trip can get to ski tracks list. You can delete these records by yourself.
If you find this kind of records in somebody's tracks, please inform us in WhatsApp ot write to support@skill.ski. We want all our ratings will be fair and Skill users get skill-coins only for their sport activity.
If you want to delete a certain record, go to the track screen and press sign "..." in upper right corner. Then press "Delete record" in appeared menu. You need stable internet-connection to delete the record.
Yes. Skill recognizes when you're changing resorts and continues to record your tracks automatically. These records will be separated for different resorts in the statistics of the day.
Information about time left is based on lift speed and remaining distance. When lift slows down or stops and speed decreases, time left becomes incorrect sometimes.
Also Skill depends on your GPS-coordinates which can have poor accuracy. So even when lift has normal speed Skill can get wrong coordinates from you and calculates wrong time left.
Info button is the central button at the lower panel. It shows your current status how Skill detects it:
Probably Skill can't detect your location because of poor GPS. Getting out of the building or starting moving may help. In rare cases we experienced (other location apps didn't work either), only restarting the device helped to fix GPS.
Skill provides you track, day, trip and season statistics:
Also there is a map with trajectory of your ride. Track line is painted in different colors according to your speed.
Probably you have poor internet-connection or don't have internet at all. Skill keeps your records locally on your device without internet. When internet-connection becomes more stable or you connect to Wi-Fi, Skill will synchronize records on your device with our server. After synchronization your records will be available to all Skill users.
Skill and other applications just have different formulas to calculate your average and maximum speed, time and distance.
For recording tracks Skill uses GPS-coordinates which can be inaccurate, especially in mountains. Because of that you can see wrong trajectory on track screens and some parameters of your records such as speed or distance can be wrong.
Current trip will finish automatically in 4 days after last track was recorded.
You can track friends even with poor internet-connection. If you don't have internet at all you'll see info message about that under Friends panel on the Map screen. But you also can see the last time your friend was online and his or her coordinates and status at that moment.
Your friends can see the same info about you.
You can see current or the last status of your friend ("Rest", "Ride", "Lift", "Poor GPS") near her or his avatar on the map.
You can track friends which are in the same resort with you.
If you want to see statistics of your friends in another resort, go to their profiles and press "Tracks" to see their activity.
To turn on/off tracking friends just press switcher "Tracking" on the "Friends" screen or on friend's profile screen!
You get skillcoins for every ride with Skill. The more you ski and the more average speed you have - the more skillcoins you get!
Continuous quality rides are more important for us than maximum speed you have in the moment.
Skill users get skill-coins for their sport activity. You should take more runs, ski more often and improve your skills to get more skill-coins!
Some Android devices restrict background mode for Skill and can close the application during recording. Unfortunately we can't do anything about that. Only a user can change these settings. Please check here that your device is configured properly.
Turn off Power Save mode. Power save mode may affect the stable work of the app in the background and reduce the accuracy of the GPS signal.
Do not run many apps in the background. It may lead to decreasing memory, as result iOS may force close the app.
Rarely the reason for force closing is Peak Performance Capability setting. Go to Settings -> Battery -> Battery Health -> Peak Performance Capability -> Disable. If you do not see the "Disable" Button it means that Peak Performance Capability is already disabled.
